Each year our members undertake a Lenten project that challenges us to put our faith into action. Over Lent we present educational material during the Sunday services and respond by making donations to support the project. Our projects in recent years have included support to indigenous communities but are not limited to this area. You can read more about our projects below.

2024 - Water First

Water FirstFor our 2024 Lenten project we decided to support Water First Education & Training again. We used a special calendar to remind ourseves about our own water use (and maybe misuse) and raised money to support this organization which helps provide clean safe water for Indigenous communities and also trains young Indigenous people on the ongoing operation and maintenance of water filtration and treatment equipment.

Over $1,000 was donated to Water First Education & Training Inc.

2023 - Living with Respect in Creation

Care For CreationThe number of people in our world is increasing each year and our world's resources are being depleted, often wastefully. Our Lenten calendar prompted us each day to recognize the waste we create and to think about ways we can modify our lifestyle to re-use more.

The money we collected was donated to Misiwe Ni Relations Healing Lodge, a healing forest for residential school survivors and their loved ones.

2022 - Water First

Clean WaterWe take our supply of abundant clear pure water for granted but many First Nations communities are without safe drinking water. This year's project was to educate ourselves on this issue and to learn about one organization's efforts to not only provide clean safe water for these communities, but to also train indigenous people on the ongoing operation and maintenance of water filtration and treatment equipment.

The money we raised was donated to Water First Education & Training Inc.

2020 - Gratitude Project

GratitudeThe early days of the COVID-19 pandemic were a struggle for many people and so, to support and encourage our congregation, we asked our members to submit photos and / or short statements of their moments of gratitude during those very difficult days. These were then shared in the Weekly Update email.
